How to check battery health on a used EV

A dashboard range number is not the same as battery health. Treat condition as unknown until there is recent evidence tied to the car.

Ask for evidence

Request a recent battery-health report or diagnostic readout and ask who produced it.

  • Check the date and vehicle details.
  • Ask what the percentage measures.
  • Use an independent inspection when the result matters to the price.

Keep price and risk together

Missing evidence does not automatically make a car bad, but it increases uncertainty.

  • Make evidence a condition of deposit.
  • Allow for warranty position and age.
  • Walk away from unsupported certainty.
